Snapshots from a ferry trip

The interior of a minivan.  When you hear about mudslides or freak collisions taking out  mini-busses, this is what flew/got wiped off the road: a 16 passenger van decked out with c. 1986 bling that has outlasted the accompanying aircon by almost as long as it's outlasted its comeback

Seatran Ferry's pier at DonSak.  This is one of the two ferry operators--Seatran and Raja/Rajha/Rajah/Ragha(h)/Racha(h)/Ratcha(h)--at the secondary port to the world-renowned Full Moon Parties at Koh Phangan.  The pier doubles as a salvage yard: as ships break down, they are moored for easy scavenging and the pier is extended.

And at some point, it's hard to tell which have been decommissioned and which just don't get much use.

DonSak's seaward face, with open-air arc welding on the ferry.

The interior overflow cabin, looking fore.

Looking fore in the first class cabin: TVs in front of reclining seats behind walled-off couches in the VIP room.  And everywhere, "No Sleeping On Couches"
Seating in the aft sundeck

Vehicular transport: half a dozen lorries, a CAT backhoe, three postal vehicles, a tour bus, a flock of motorbikes, a handful of motor cars, and quite a bit of room to spare

Commuting: both ferry operators depart at the same time, so there are always at least two ships in sight.

I know I'm thinking like a local when I have to remind myself this might be photo-worthy
